Living with Us

Abound Communities aims to help older Victorians live well in retirement.

A community environment and continuum of care enables ageing in place

The cornerstone of Abound’s approach is a continuum of care for its residents from independent living to homecare and assisted living, and onto residential aged care. This mix of accommodation allows residents to ‘age-in-place’ under the umbrella of Abound.

Most of our villages include a range of accommodation, including fully self-contained villa units with a private garden and completely stepless apartment living. Each village is a vibrant, welcoming community with services that allow residents to stay independent in their own homes.

Residents in independent and assisted living are checked on daily through a non-intrusive ‘I am well’ turn card at their front doors. The maintenance support system provides 24-hour service to ensure the safety and satisfaction of all residents, and they also have free a personal alarm for 24-hour emergency assistance.

In 2023, Abound launched Homecare services at our villages, providing residents with an additional layer of support services from staff they already know and trust.

We excel at supporting residents, whether they live independently, in our assisted living or aged care home, to enjoy a balanced, active, social and healthy life.

Regardless of their stage in ageing, all residents are involved in planning fun and meaningful activities, such as walks, coffee mornings, and volunteer projects. Our residents and staff develop strong ties with one another.

We provide specialised care and expertise in dementia, palliative and culturally appropriate care for people from non-English speaking backgrounds.

Joining Abound Communities

On receipt of an application, you will get a one-on-one interview with one of our staff to understand your circumstances and needs and to answer questions you may have.

Depending on the village and accommodation type you are after, waiting lists will likely apply.

Residents of Abound pay a one-off, means-tested Ingoing Contribution, and in exchange receive a 49-year lease over one of our independent or assisted living units. There are no exit fees, deferred management fees or the like upon departure.

The unique aspect of Abound Communities’ model is that the Ingoing Contribution is means tested. Those of limited or no means are welcome at Abound Communities and form a core part of our mission and our resident intake.
