For almost 150 years, Abound Communities has delivered housing and support to older Victorians in need. We use this experience to contribute our views to proposed policy changes that affect ageing and our elders.

In our submission to the Victorian Government’s Ten-Year Social and Affordable Housing Strategy for Victoria. In it we argue that all levels of government have to treat affordable housing as essential infrastructure. We called on the government to produce more housing that is suitable for and available to older people at risk of homelessness, and especially older women.

The Old Colonists’ Association of Victoria welcomes the opportunity to make a submission on the 2021/22 Federal Budget. Even with the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and its effect socially and economically on Australia, this Budget is of vital importance to and for older Australians.
The Review of the Retirement Villages Act is timely given the current nationwide focus on older people and aged care and the start of the UN International Decade of Healthy Ageing. Retirement villages certainly have an important part to play in assisting older people to age well, healthily and can be a great contributor to quality of life.
