Currie Park is gearing up for an afternoon of family fun, music, and entertainment to mark the Old Colonists’ Association of Victoria’s 150th celebrations on Saturday 23 November.

For the past three years Heather Hodge and Ruth Richardson have been rummaging and reading their way through the archives of Old Colonists’ Association of Victoria helping to uncover 150 years of history.

Actress and Rushall Park resident Lois Collinder reckons she would have liked Eloise Juno, the woman who moved into the village in 1910 after a career travelling and performing around the world.

Sanctuary is how artist Gillian Coates describes her home at Currie Park, OCAV’s village in Euroa. ‘Sanctuary’ is the word Gillian has written on the artwork being prepared by Currie Park residents for the village’s 150th anniversary open day on Saturday 23 November.

Dorothy Clayton hopes people will feel a sense of home when they visit her unit as part of Braeside Park’s 150th anniversary open day on Saturday 12 October.

An afternoon of music, food, and plenty of exercise is on the cards for Sunday 20 October at Leith Park retirement village in St Helena to mark the Old Colonists’ Association of Victoria’s 150th anniversary.

An afternoon of good old fashioned fun is being planned for Braeside Park’s celebrations to mark the Old Colonists’ Association of Victoria’s 150th celebrations on Saturday 12 October. Music, history, dance and afternoon tea with scones are all in the mix for what should make for a celebration to remember by all, according to Mary Tasker, Residents’ Committee Coordinator.

It was a trip back in history for 70 residents, volunteers and staff who were treated to afternoon tea at Government House. The occasion, hosted by OCAV Patron Linda Dessau AC, Governor of Victoria and Mr Anthony Howard QC, marked the start of the organisation’s 150th celebrations, a year which the Governor described as a ‘hallmark’ and ‘something to be celebrated.’

Jane Glynn, receptionist at Liscombe House, has had her dream come true: winning a competition that has seen the creation of a stunning communal garden for residents at Leith Park.

The weather in July 1869, as now, was rainy and cold but it certainly did not dampen the spirits of old colonists’ Judge Pohlman, George Coppin and J B Were who travelled from Queen Street to North Fitzroy to lay the foundation stones of the first two cottages in what was then known as the Old Colonists’ Almshouses.
