When Currie Park residents put the call out to the local Euroa community to take part in the 150th celebrations on Saturday November 23, they were not expecting the reception they have had.

“We have been overwhelmed by the support from the community,” 150th Currie Park coordinator Ellen Doyle said.

“Saturday will truly be a community event, and absolutely fitting for the Old Colonists’ Association of Victoria which has a strong sense of community,” she said.

The celebrations include entertainment by the Euroa Citizens’ Band, featuring resident Gillian Allen, the Euroa Ukulele Group, Greg Dudley and the Euroa Little Theatre Group.

The CWA and APEX will be helping out with providing afternoon tea and a BBQ, and the Euroa Urban Fire Brigade will be on hand to show children and adults alike the intricacies of a fire truck. The Euroa Historical Society will also be answering questions about local history.

The celebrations begin at noon with the burial of a time capsule and a formal opening by Deputy Mayor John Mason.

“We are thrilled that the Deputy Mayor will be on hand to help with burying the time capsule and for the formalities,” Ellen said.

House tours are also a feature of the afternoon. Visitors will be guided through the village and an apartment and unit by Hayley Stokes, Currie Park’s apartments supervisor. Spaces are still available for the two tours, but are selling fast. Bookings can be made: https://www.trybooking.com/BEUXX

Other features of the afternoon include children’s activities, a pot luck plant sale, a trash and treasure stall, and Beyond the Gate, an exhibition about OCAV’s history and Currie Park.
