Coronavirus Update and Liscombe House

March 19, 2020

Due to the rapid spread of COVID‑19 in our community and the known risk to vulnerable people, we have introduced stringent measures for entry to Liscombe House. At this stage, no Old Colonists’ Association of Victoria residents or employees have tested positive for COVID‑19.

We ask you to respect the following:

Visitors not allowed to enter Liscombe House are:

  • People who have returned from overseas in the last 14 days
  • Those who have been in contact with a confirmed case of COVID-19 in the last 14 days
  • Those with fever or symptoms or acute respiratory infection and symptoms
  • Those who have not been vaccinated against influenza after the 1st of May.

Visitation

Visits are limited to one person per resident per day and children under 16 will not be allowed to visit. There will be no tag teaming.

Visiting hours are restricted to:

  • Monday – Friday – 2pm to 7pm
  • Weekends and public holidays – 1.30pm – 4.30pm

Visits must be conducted in a resident’s room, outdoors or in a specific area designated by our staff, rather than communal areas where the risk of transmission to other residents is greater.

Visitors should practice safe distancing, which includes keeping 1.5m away from residents and staff, no hugging, kissing or other contact.

Please follow hand washing and health hygiene instructions, and keep your mobile phone well sanitised too.

We understand that there will be some exceptional circumstances (for example end of life care). As long as you are well, haven’t been overseas in the previous 14 days and haven’t been in direct contact with a person diagnosed with COVID‑19, we will arrange this.

The health and safety of residents is our first priority, and we appreciate your support in the measures we are taking to make Liscombe House the safest possible place for older people to be.

"I love the fact that Rushall Park residents and volunteers are so active – contributing to life in the village. The sense of the community is strong which is why I put my name on the waiting list" - Maggie Birkett.
