Ken Trimble has made Currie Park his home. So much so, that he is sharing a poem he has written about the village with future residents.

An established poet, Ken wrote Forevermore, a reflection on the art of living and the importance of having a home, for the time capsule that will be buried as part of the 150th Celebrations.

Ken has lived at Currie Park for about two years. He had been living in a rustic cabin in W Tree, a small town near Buchan in North Gippsland, where he needed a torch to walk the 200m at night to the bathroom facilities, dodging kangaroos along the way. It was the cold, a few health problems and some old friendships that led him to the OCAV village in Euroa.

While the cabin was basic, the lifestyle at the Tibetan Buddhist Retreat Centre where he lived for three years were wonderful and productive for Ken who has published his fifth book of poetry and prose. Ken has been nominated three times for the Pushcart Prize, an American literary prize published by Pushcart Press.

Ken has enjoyed the challenge of creating a new life at Currie Park, as he has throughout his life, in different countries and amongst different communities of people. One important part of each day for him is his writing and meditation, which he now does independently.

The time capsule will include gold coins, a USB of photographs of residents, the Celebration Afternoon program, among others.

Forevermore

Old age will not defeat us for
We have made this place our home
With a bagful of memories
And hearts full of dreaming.

For some we find our garden a chance
To heal our lived soul
While others seek the sun
That forever keeps their memory young.

A book is read, and some wine is drunk
As the painter paints the glory of God's
Wild rose.
While others, are just happy to be,
To live this life, free.

For we have all walked life's long road,
And now it is here we lay down our weary
Head while above us a crowd of stars
To guide our way knowing

We have this home, our home,
Today, tomorrow, and forevermore.
