Kelvin hoes down to country music in Braeside Park

There is nothing like country music to get the vocal chords tuned up according to Kelvin Wilson.

He should know; he has worked on a country radio station in Geelong, and continues to listen and sing along from the comfort of his Braeside Park serviced apartment.

Kelvin has recently moved to the village, which he says offers him not only a sense of security but also the chance to walk down to the shops, have a latte, and pick up whatever he needs.

“The village is so close to the centre of town which still has a charming country feel to it,” Kelvin said.

“I really have landed on my feet by moving here.”

Being close to nature is something that Kelvin appreciates. He grew up in Bendigo on the family farm and enjoyed farm life.

“There was never a dull moment on a farm. There was so much going on. I had an idyllic childhood,” Kelvin said.

In his younger days, he played football for Newbridge, a village near Bendigo, He still returns to watch the game but, deep down, is a resolute Essendon supporter. He retired in 2017 after a career in engineering.

The world of engineering is very far away now for Kelvin who enjoys the quieter life of Braeside Park.

“I loved the village from the first time I came here to look at the apartments,” Kelvin said.

“I love the layout of Braeside Park, the units and the tree-lined streets. The gardens are immaculate and welcoming. The benches around the village are the perfect place to have a cuppa and chat with other residents,” he said.

“In many ways, I have gone back to everything I enjoyed: a close-knit community and being close to nature.”
