Leith & Bartlett Architects continued their long-standing relationship with OCAV by being appointed architects to the Association’s latest village.

Each cottage had a bedroom, bathroom, living room and kitchen and was fitted with carpets and curtains, refrigerators, washing machines, heating and wiring for air conditioning. Nothing was forgotten. Even the external walls were cement-washed brick to blend with the landscape.

The entry payment for each occupant was pegged at $5,000 with the Association picking up the remainder of the costs.

The project almost came unstuck when rising building costs threatened the price. The plans were revised and fresh tenders were called.

Ian Delbridge of Lilydale won the building contract, with the first residents moving in on 15 December 1975, and the remainder in early 1976.
