OCAV is to establish a Home Care service for its independent and assisted living residents.

The initiative has been approved by the OCAV Council and will start in mid-2022.

OCAV President Kevin Neville said Home Care will be an important addition to the organisation’s continuum of care.

“It is one which will enable residents to maintain their independence for as long as possible,” he said.

“The establishment of a Home Care business is a natural progression for us, and it comes at an exciting time as we prepare to launch the rebranding of the Association and our Vision 2026. I am sure that our founder George Coppin would be very proud of this initiative.”

Recruitment for a Home Care Manager is now underway. The manager will implement and oversee the service, and put systems and procedures in place. This will be followed by recruitment of additional service staff to ensure we are appropriately resourced to deliver home care services.

As a residential aged care provider, OCAV is already approved by the Commonwealth Government to provide these services under the Aged Care Act 1997.

The service will operate to the same quality standards as our residential care operations and in compliance with the Aged Care Act.

The home care market is expanding rapidly each year with the release of new packages and the growth of the older population in all areas of metropolitan Melbourne.

Next year there are expected to be 140,000 home care packages available nationwide..
